There was a time when I advocated 12K mile changes, but that was before I figured out that dielectric grease on the boots is a lot more important than young plugs. I gap mine every 10 K or so and plan to replace at 30K. And, of course, if the engine ever misses a beat, new plugs are going in immediately.
