I think that rice ownership is concentrated heavily in an age group where trend following is de rigeur. SAABs are not trendy, so they may never appeal to this group. Most riced cars are, I'm sure, not bought new, or if they are, then they are modified later... like the kid who got a Civic DX when he went off to college... two years later he has some cash from his summer job, and blows it on ricey kit. I would be very curious to know if SAABers in, say the 30+ age group, were trend followers in their youth... I'm inclined to think most of us were not. We obvoiously have quite a few late teen and early 20's participants on this board who are not trend followers either. My suspicion is the ricers of today will flock to BMW as their finances permit in their later 20's and 30's.... Speaking of BMW and rice, I've seen a badgeless E30 3-series (I suspect 318i...) around central/eastern MA recently... which probably was bought for <2k and has a ton of rice crappola on it... enough toe-out to look like the wheels are going to pop off, and lowered by the wonderful craft of cutting the springs - obvious from how the car was 2" off the road and it still looked as soft as a Caddy...
