My car is an 1988 and yes the system could use some freshing up, but even then I don't think it works all that wel or keep the car cool. It's my understanding however that with most AC systems, there's only about a 20 degree impact that they can make at most. So, for me living here in souhern Georgia where it's already 93 degrees, then with all the humidity and the heat index added to that mess, the temp outside feels more like 96 degrees or better. Take off the standard 20 degrees (for a real good working AC system) and you wind up with a car that still feels like 76 if not warmer on the inside. I don't consider that to be a cool interior but, it's comfortable by my standards I guess. Tinting the windows can also help the system be a little more effective by perhaps 5 degrees. Doesn't sound like much but can make a difference in how cool it feels. Also condsider that the car does sit outside and therfore the inside temp will be more than what the temp of the day is (96 degree day, car sitting in sun, cars's interior is gonna be alot more than 20 degrees beyond that trust me)and then there's the Leather that never seems to feel cool enough does it? I work on Aircraft for a living and when it's a 85 degree day outside, the inside of these aircraft get to well past 110 degrees if not more. After working inside of them for say 30 minutes, I am completely soaked and spent. Taken all these thing into account though, I can't say that the SAAB AC system sucks the big one as other cars suck just as bad. SAAB's just seem to be at the lower end in the sucking department IMHO. When my blower motor went out I didn't get it fixed or replaced, I just keep the windows down when I can.

See Ya,
Phil
