Our 87 9000t had new upper rubber bushings installed when I bought it. My attempt to lengthen the life was to stick some vacuum lines in the two open slots in the bushings. I put some silicone lube on it and pulled it through the gap, then cut it to length. I believe I was able to fit 4 or five pieces of tubing per slot. It seemed to reduce engine movement and still keep vibrations out of the cabin. The biggest benefit is the new bushings can't flex as much and tear themselves apart. This trick could be used as a stop gap measure until you get the new bushings or poly replacements. DOn't wait too long. I speculate that with worn top mounts the engine moves around more which might cause extra stress on the more expensive lower mounts.
