Using the procedure he outlines will set the machinery up so that the ACC (91 does have the ACC2, BTW--I know because I own one) reverts to whichever mode you've programed in. This means you can have it in ECON mode at start-up, if you so desire.
There's a downside to this, though: if you program so that the compressor is not engaged, you are risking its longterm health. Running the compressor briefly at startup will help insure that the seals and such are lubricated (and hence last longer).
So you might want to consider the practice of letting it start in AUTO and then punching either ECON or OFF in a couple of minutes.
What puzzles me about Lu's post is that my car does NOT revert to a preset temp, only to the preset mode. At startup, I get whatever temp it was set for last time the car was used. Is this, I wonder, usual or just one of the strangenesses of my particular car?
