I removed the blower motor and figured I could replace the worn brushes. Then I noticed the contact surface on the rotor was gone! Half the width on 180 degrees of the brush contact surface had disintegrated. That would explain why it wouldn't run full speed! The bearings were fine. It wasn't drawing too much current so my transistor is OK. I was able to replace the motor without removing the A/C evaporator. Thanks for the input..you were right on the money. Nothing beats cold a/c blowing in your face.
