I think the confusion arises because the CS body style didn't hit the US until 1993, the same year as the Aero was introduced. However, here in the UK, we had the CS for a whole year before the introduction of the Aero and Trionic. I don't know much about the CS Carlsson, but I think it was tweaked to around 220hp (like the CS Turbo S of the same vintage). As I think I mentioned before, though, horsepower isn't everything.

If the Aero is a manual, it will have the Mitsubishi turbo and will have more "oomph" at higher RPM. However, the Carlsson (I assume it's a 2.3) will likely have at least as good acceleration due to the shorter gearing and slightly more responsive turbo.

The Aero will probably be more economical (my '96 Aero is a lot lighter on fuel than my '90 2.3 CDT was), due to the higher gearing.

I don't know what the interior of the Carlsson is like, but I do know that no other 9000 has seats like the Aero. Then again, one drawback of this is that the rear seats are a bit like those of a "2+2", and not comfortable for anyone sitting in the middle. For keeping you upright during hard cornering, these seats are the biz.

Perhaps you could fill us in a bit on what sort of driving you anticipate, as this will make a difference as to which car is best. Don't worry, there are both old duffers and boy racers here. I tend to alternate between the two. Perhaps I'm at that age...
