Generally speaking, a larger woofer takes a larger box for the same optimal sealed volume. But, depending on the woofer, it may or may not take a 'large' box. Large to me would be defined as anything over roughly 2 cubic feet. My 12" is in a one cubic foot box, which really is pretty tiny, and takes up a minisule portion (which is really not usuable space anyhow) of the total volume of the trunk.

With two 12", that really isn't an option, but it also doesn't mean you will be losing the entire trunk. As I recall, the trunk volume in the 9000 is somewhere between 14 and 16 cubic feet, so assuming 2-3 cubic feet for sub box, that's not a drastic reduction.

I'd second all of Rob's advice, it really is pretty simple. However, I'm not sure about plugging the RCA cables into the back of the stock deck. To my knowledge, the 9000 stereos never came with RCA preamp outputs, which is what you would need. The alternative is to find a subwoofer amplifier with speaker level inputs, or purchase a speaker level to line level converter. Then, simply run a wire from the rear speakers to the input of the amp or converter.

As for the tweeters, do you have crossovers for them? If not, you will need some. Their size and configuration will determine where you put them, either front, rear, or some custom location. I'd recommend putting your best sounding components up front if possible.

Below is a picture of my tiny subwoofer, and believe me, it gives plenty of bass with only 100w..

What loss of trunk space? :)
