Well I managed to get the clutch working today. After unsuccessfully bleeding again and talking with Don at Andrew's of Princeton I decided to try my old master cylinder (remember that a broken hose was the original problem). It worked well and I was able to bleed the car and drive it around Minneapolis. The clutch pedal feel is nice and soft - just like I remember it from before the breakdown.
Here's the problem (there always is one) for reasons I have not yet determined the clutch master cylinder moves back and forth when the clutch pedal is depresed. The movement is slight - certainly less than 1/4 inch - but it is discernable! Has anyone else seen this? Has anyone else tried to rtepair this??? I'm guessing that a stiffer plate may need to be installed - has anybody tried?
Thanks for all the help this week!
