Last week I installed a Clarion DVD player/surround decoder. I had put in a six channel amp a couple months ago, replacing two other amps. I also have a 5" LCD screen to use with the system, but it is not permanently mounted, as I don't intend to use it that much. My primary goal in getting the DVD player was to listen to movies in the car, and still retain the discrete 5.1 surround. Ebay allowed me to do that at a bargain basement price! I have yet to see a car other than the 9000 have three DIN slots, and I sure have made use of that fact.

I'll get more screen shots sometime at night, as it's damn hard to take shots during the day. The flat screen acts as a great mirror. The sound is excellent, and while everything else lags behind my DD/DTS system at home, the bass absolutely kills my home subwoofer, even though the car has less than 1/3 the power available. I'm not running a center channel at this time, as I'm still looking for the perfect speaker/location.

I highly recommend anyone looking for a car DVD player to check into this unit. It's under $400 on Ebay, and there are at least a dozen listings right now. Model is DVS9755Z. No other DVD player on the market has a built in DD/DTS decoder, and this is all in one DIN sized chassis, plus a wired faceplate sized controller. The number of sound adjustments, from speaker gain to crossover frequency to delay time to 3-band parametric EQ, are highly useful and welcomed! The only negative I have found is that the display doesn't show current chaper/track/time as most home DVD players do.

I have new front tweeters on order, but other than that, you can stick a fork in my system, it's done! Well, at least until someone comes out with a significantly better/cheaper MP3 head unit than what I have now.

Enjoy!
