the biggest problem I've noticed is that now that the evaporator isn't there I tend to pull in more engine fumes. If you pull it out be sure to seal things up again (I obviously have no idea what the proper technique for this is). I got a blower motor from the junkyard - it works nice. If you're replacing that note that removing the wiper motor is UNNECESSARY. The biggest trick is to remove the false firewall between the intake manifold and blower motor.

As for the AC screwing with ACC, I'll bet that pulling the AC fuse is enough to fool ACC (you'd have to check Haynes to be sure though)

when you're taking things apart you should also look around for rust underneath the plastic gaskets.

Oh and removing the hood made the job orders of magnitude easier (just make sure you have a friend handy when you decide to take the hood off)
