Did you bleed all of the fluid out of the system? This requires emptying the reservoir, and bleeding until you have lots of fresh clean fluid coming through. Expect it to be worst at first, then cleaner, then very clean and fresh. I'm hearing guys say that they are using 3 pints of fluid for a flush. Also, don't forget to flush clutch too, it needs clean fluid to work well and long. Reason for this is the fluid holds water throughout, and after 2 yrs goes bad. Some folks never flush brakes, and pay for it with calipers.
Have you had a look at your pads? Rotors? Don't think your problem is with ABS or electrics from your description. Thick sludge is a bad sign. Did it look rusty? You may get lucky yet....
I'm no expert on these matters. I suggest you check out the pads, rotors, and be sure that all of the fluid is out. Then repost, telling what you have done, and that the fluid was initially sludge, how it looks and feels now, and ask some of the really experienced guys to comment. Your current post is getting pretty far down the list, so reposting will get it back in front of the discussion.
