>> I've been using MetalMasters for a couple of Decades now...and have found them very well suited to everyday driving....
This is good to know, as my info was third-hand and I've never used them.
As popular as they are, they can't have serious problems in street use, so I believe what you say.
>> Pricing is happily laughably low.
The Deluxe are even lower, both being much lower than stock. Why some knowledgeable folks still insist on using stock pads is beyond me, though I think their attitude would change if they tried these and discovered the bliss of not needing to clean wheels every other day.
>> Brake dusting IS a problem tho....
For some reason this is a big deal for me, and is why I always move away from the stock pads. When I got my '95 2½ years ago changing the front pads was the second order of business after removing the fossil oil the previous owner installed. I simply find dark front wheels after one day's driving to be untenable, though the rear isn't as big a problem.
>> My local distributor is currently extolling the virtues of "Ceramic" pads, but after a few less than happy experiences with 'Performance Friction" Carbon Metallics.. I'm no longer willing to be the first on the block to try the 'latest'.
I've been tempted to try EBC Kevlar pads (Greenstuff) after having glowing success with EBC Kevlar on my Harley, which have been in use for 75k miles on the front and 65k on the rear with half the pads remaining. Stopping effort is lower, stopping power higher, and rotor wear non-existent with EBC rotors--though there is a brief decrease in stopping power (a second or two) when wet 'til the rotors clear of water. A friend with a sport bike also experiences this but it isn't a big problem for either of us. These also leave little or no dust on the wheels. Did I mention I like that?
But I have a 25-year relationship with the Repco/Axxis/PBR Deluxe pads on various cars, including five Saabs, and they work very well for my needs. Did I mention they don't leave much dust and that I like that? Moving away from them into the Kevlar realm is a possibility for the future, but I'll need more input from users first. Someone wrote here that their wearability was rather low, which I find hard to believe with my experience with the motorcycle variety.
