In Novemeber I took my 1993 CSE Turbo to a Saab dealer to have the head gasket replaced after it blew....needed new cylinder and needed to be towed. The car had 108k on it. Ever since the car was back it was very very rough at idle. I took it back to the garage a week later and they said the upper motor mounts were worn and that it needed to be replaced. I haven't driven the car in awhile so I decided not to get the job done then. Its May now and I needed to sell the car so I don't have to keep on insuring it and took it to another saab dealer where they inspected the car and also said the motor mounts were worn thin, but that the main cause of the problem was that my balancing chain was worn thin or needed to be replaced along with the serpitine belt and pully and tensioner etc... I started to wonder if they messed around with it when they did my head gasket because that was the same time I started getting the rough vibrations in idle. But for some reason the vibrations go away once the is in drive and starts to move even if its 5mph, as long as its not sitting there still there isn't a vibration. Do you think the two could go together? I have a 1 year 12,000 mile warrenty on the car and I did take it to the original dealer a week later complaining about the vibrations and they said it was the motor mounts after inspecting the car.I have only put 2k on the on the car since the head gasket was replaced so what should I do? Its a $2200 job for the balancing chain to be replaced along with all the spockets etc alogn with the motor mounts at an indy and the second Saab dealer quoted $3000-3500. I have used this original dealer for many things, heater core, ac, damn check engine light three times and they it took the third time to get rid of the light. My car is at another indy right now for a second opinion. Is there anyway I can get my dealer to pay for this?
