mutungee's right on: The flange is attached to the engine's front cover (whew) on this 91 9kT. The flange was shattered in the failure.
The failure appears to be caused by the bolt that the top of the tensionor coming off!!! I figure it loosened, fell off, the tensioner worked its way sideways, the p-toing!
Lucky as heck that all I lost was this little cast plate.
The question now is what do I trust to salvage? A new belt for sure, but should I distrust any of the bolts, the idler, the plates that hold it together? Nothing seems to be even SLIGHTLY scratched by the incident, so I'm thinking I really did luck out.
