Hehe....
Just the other day I was sitting at a stoplight here in Sacramento. At the other end of the light, the right line merges into the left line. There's about 30' of right lane on the other side of the intersection before the merge. Not surprisingly, it's always a race to the other side.
I'm in my '88 9kt (minor mods, 12psi, 256,000 miles) in the ending right lane, there's a brand-new Mustang GT in the left lane. Light turns green and I gave the race away when I chirped the front tires. The Mustang wasn't having any of it, and he took off. By the other side of the intersection he was about a half a car length ahead of me as I simply couldn't hook up. After that, he stayed on the gas, so I figured what the heck. By the 1/4 mile mark he's doing about 90mph and I'm itching to pass, right on his bumper. Had to take my foot off the gas to avoid rear ending him... :) We both back off as we cross the 100mph mark as we're running out of open road.
The next stoplight I move into the left turn lane and he's going straight. He rolls down his window and gives me the thumbs up. "What is that in there, a six or an eight?" he asks me. "Four cylinder" I hollar back. "Damn."
