Sorry about the premature post. Anyway, the dark stains are corrosion/tarnish. If you use "SemiChrome" polish or any of the metal polishes made specifically for aluminum, they should shine the logo with a bit of hand polishing. Several of the better grade products are available through motorcycle shops. Do not use an abrasive - e.g., ScotchBrite or scrubbing cleaners. Although they will temporarily remove the tarnish, they will roughen the surface and promote faster corrosion in the future.
