My 93 9K cset left us stranded just close to home after a 3 hour long drive with 2 cars. First midway in our journey the engine started to squeal with the AC ON (very hot day in Kentucky) - the squealing was louder with giving it more gas/rpm. With the AC OFF on economy mode the squealing disappeared but when I opened the hood I thought I could see the surpentine belt vibrating kinda funny. Anyway since the squealing stopped with the AC OFF which I was planning to have it looked at by the dealer tomorrow, I thought we will keep driving since we were quite far from home. Actually my wife was driving the SAAB and I was following her in my other car. Well, as we got into the city my wife heard this sound on the expressway and than the engine temp needle shot up, had to pull over after 3-4 miles when the power steering started to fail. Got off the expressway and looked into the hood and the surpentine belt had just come out but it is NOT broken ????? and the coolant fluid had leaked out and showing empty in the reservoir.
Questions:
1. Why did the surpentine belt just come out even though it is not broken (though it does look worn/some cracks)??
2. Did we damage the engine or the gasket or anything else by continuing to drive while the engine was overheating??
3. Why did the coolant leak out? from overheating ?? how ??
4. Should I assume that all this happened because the surpentine belt was too old and worn? Does the AC have anything to do with this? Should I have it checked?
5. By how much should I expect to be poorer by the end of tomorrow?
6. Should I have the dealer do anything else while they are doing this job if it is just a few extra minutes of labor?

Thank you.
