with the plugs in the cassette....
find a flat metal plate that's as long as the span of the cassette. set it somewhere on the engine block near to where the cassette goes so that you can hold it while it's connected. Ensure that the flat metal plate itself is well grounded by attaching a jumper cable between the plate and the negative terminal of the battery. If you have the recommended NGK plugs they have the curved metal "finger" at the firing end...that's the ground on the plugs... Put those against the metal plate pressing slightly so that all of them are making good contact at once, but not hard enough to change the gap (alternatively you can touch all four threads at once if you are worried about the gap). Have someone crank the engine. Observe the spark.
Alternatively, if you have enough stripped wire lying around and no metal plate, wind the wire around the threads and connect to any good ground. Same deal.
