Wouldn't dream of disposing the car--love it too much and it has many more miles to go!!!!!
The tranny problem really was only a headache, not a heartache. It was due to the opening being drilled slightly larger than the seal at the factory, not due to any internal problems. So that didn't make me worry about the tranny's integrity. Now, the 1st one losing 2nd gear at 42K made me nervous, but getting a new one in place of it calmed me enough.
As for the setup you mention, I was thinking more of bypassing the radiator altogther, by mounting the trans cooler in front of it (to gain more air flow) and running the lines to the cooler, while plugging the holes in the radiator. I'm sure using a trans cooler will far surpass what the radiator can do as far as cooling the fluid.
