Hi all
The other day I was looking arounf the engine, thought I'd check the air filter, it turned out to be filthy. Went to a parts store and realized that a SAAB air filter at Advanced Autoparts costs the same as K&N. Thr problem was that I would not be getting that much flow cause that perticular filter still utilizes the air box. So, instead of buying a filtyer for 42 bucksa that would still use the box I found something else. Its made buy APC, American Products Comp. its called t he Intimidator, parts no.15.1095 This filter is perfect, its 26 bucks, it has arubber lip in the bottom and comes with a hose clamp. This lip just happens to fit the AMM in my 87 9k perfectly. THe butt end of it sits it the hole it the fender. This is all done without taking out the air box. The only thing that I removed was the plastic adapter for the filter, the one with the snappy clips.
The sound is great, and the performance has really increased. Of course it could be that my old one was so dirty, but now I can hear the blow off valve working, and the car whisles a bit when you're using the turbo. I think its a great purchase, I mean I don't have to worry about buying another filter, it fit perfectly, and my 87 9k auto is a little pepier.
