First, avoid the V6, it's less reliable and arguably less powerful, and also has little potential for further tuning
An Aero is great, but of course watch for abuse. I don't think an Aero would get worse fuel economy the a regular turbo if driven comparably (which may be the hard part.)
As you said, the CD has the trunk, and it also has less agressive suspension (IIRC) and somewhat unreliable rear load-leveling shocks. In the US at least it's also hard to find one with a manual. Will the CD has a big trunk the seats don't fold down. The hatch is bigger yet and much more versitle. All Aeros have the hatch.
Aparently the Aeros could indeed out accelerate certain Ferraris and Lamborginis between certain highway speeds. If you get an Aero you'll probably love it, but any of the 2.3T 200hp cars are quick and can be tuned for even more.
