>> Aero are famous, but maybe spoiled by previous owner, too heavy on the Gas.
Not all. Mine was pampered by the previous owner, and still is by me. Yeah, I do punch it from time to time, but no hole-shots or power shifts allowed.
>> Read somewhere that 93 aero was pushing more than a ferari testarossa...true ?
You're referring to a Saab ad that claimed an Aero could out-accelerate a Testy from 50-70 mph in high gear, if I recall. Don't try out-running one in any other part of the band, however. Aero's are fast, but Testy's are out of their class. Check the sticker price and you'll not doubt that probability.
>> 3 liters 6 cyl ? Less fun than turbo, but more reliable, I guess, engine not killed by High boost.
Not necessarily. The Saab four-banger is solid and reliable, even in FPT mode. Changes were made in '94 to engine and tranny that should make newer models more reliable. How you treat it is important, but I've never had an engine problem on any of my five turbo Saabs owned from '82. About 20 years ago R&T reported that turbo models were slightly more reliable than non-turbo in a survey they conducted. Earlier turbo models have more robust internal components--like forged pistons and crank, etc.--than non-turbo. I don't know about LPT, but I assume they're more along the lines of non-turbo engines, as they're only capable of modest boost levels.
>> CD or CS ? What's the differense? TrunK I guess but which has the biggest?
CD's are conventional sedans, more-or-less, with CS's being hatchbacks with better access and more cargo volume. The late-model ('93-'98) 9K CS's volume is 23.5 cubic feet with the rear deck in and seats folded up, with the CD measuring in at 17.8. In the CS with seats down and rear deck out the volume is 54 cubic feet, if I recall.
I shoe-horned a full-sized, boxed refrigerator in the hatch of my '91 9KT 5-door and it only stuck out a foot or so. Had it cleared the top of the hatch (very close) I think it might have fit all the way. In my '86 I managed to stuff 20 3-cubic-foot bags of pine-bark nuggets into its hatch without touching any seated surface. Try that in your neighbor's Bimmer, or any other sedan for that matter. The CS is a sport sedan that doubles as a panel truck when needed. Very versatile, indeed.
>> What about Aero Trunk?
All 9K Aero's are CS's, but the rear seats don't fold all the way down because of their sporty shape and size. This hasn't been a major deterent for me yet, and may not since I've added the seat hold-down clips that are present on most 9K CS's. No early Aeros had clips that I'm aware of, certainly not my '95, but they were added later, perhaps in '96.
>> Well...please tell what would you choose as a powerful 9000...
Aero's are the ticket, IMHO, but stick with the 5-speed, which has 25 more HP and considerably higher torque. Avoid TCS if possible, available only on '92-'95 9K's, as it is problematic. The '91-'92 has a 200 hp FPT engine, 16" Aero (not super-Aero) wheels, Z-rated tires, and a lowered suspension--similar to later Aero models. Aeros have sexy seats with great lateral support, and '95-'97's are equipped with every bell and whistle in the Saab arsenal.
