I have a 1996 9000CS that I bought just about a year ago. It is in great shape and so far has needed nothing.

However I have been having a problem with the high beams. When I first got the car, I noticed sometimes I couldn't get the high beams to come on. Yet the next time I drove the car they would work fine. So it has been an intermittent problem but not usually in the same driving session, but from one outing to the next. Lately I can not seem to get the high beams to work at all anytime.

I did a quick check under the hood last night for anything obvious such as blown fuses (both high beam fuses in place and not blown) or loose relays (pulled and reseated both headlight relays).

OK, so my first question is, anyone familiar with this problem and can immediately point me to a solution or where to look?

And second, if no to that first question, anyone know where I can find a decent wiring diagram of my car so I can trouble shoot the problem? I have used the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual for my 900 in the past, but I heard that the 9000 Haynes manual sucks and in fact for the highlight section, the two relays and fuses are not even shown (the part I actually need most right now). Is this true? Can someone with a 9000 Haynes manual check for me?

My car is due for inspection in July, so I need to solve this in the next couple weeks. I will try to do some additional testing, like making sure I have voltage on both sides of the four fuses and stuff like that, but obviously a good wiring diagram would go a long way in helping we check things.

Also, I didn't check the stalk yet. Is that hard to remove? I read in the archives that all the light current passed thru the stock and sometimes those contacts would fail, but the archives seemed to imply that was an issue with older models. Is my 1996 the same way?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can check the Haynes manual or refer me to a good wiring diagram or advice on taking the stalk off the steering column.
