I'm stuck in the middle of the CV boot replacement on the passenger side. I'm following Quasi's instructions but can't seem to get the axle to slide out of the joint. I'm using some snap ring pliers and can easily spread the ring as far as it will go. However, the axle doesn't seem to want to budge. Quasi's instructions make it sound easy once you spread the snap ring, but I have tried pushing, pulling, and jerking both by myself and with someone helping. Probably spent an hour and a half so far on this step with no sign of success, so I don't think that just attacking it some more will help unless there's some trick I'm missing. Does it matter what angle the joint/hub is at? With the strut bolts removed, the whole thing flops all over the place which seems to be part of the problem, or at least makes it harder to tell what's going on.
Anyone have any ideas? This would be a really easy job if it weren't for this one hangup.
