My Torx bits are the type that fit on a socket wrench. Whenever a bolt is tight, I use a breaker bar, not a rachet wrench as the rachet will put more sideways force on the fastner. If a fastner is "feeling" like something is about to break, time to take another method. In the case of the compressor, I'd suggest several sharp blows with a brass drift and a hammer. The brass drift will deform before the fastner, yet transmit the force of the hammer and break any corrosion bond. also make sure the internal splines of the Torx fastner are clean, any debris will cause incomplete engagement. As I recall there are 3 fastners on the heat shield side and 3 around the pulley.
