I started out with an 87 900s and bought an 87 9000t 2 years later. I kept that car and now drive a (you guessed it) 94 Aero. Although there are many similarities, the 9k's seemed a little more advanced to me. My 87 9k handled better than the 900, and was certainly more powerful due to the Turbo. But the difference between my 87 9k and the Aero is unbelievable. My hesitation would be that the Aero has required more repair than the older model at 100k miles (US) but that should be expected from a car that so early on could achieve the performance this car does.
My advice might depend on what you expect from a car. If you want a daily driver you can ignore and abuse, get a ToyMaNda. If you like to drive and want a spacious work horse that can't be "Rode Hard and Put Up Wet," get the CSE. The Ultimate Driving Experience goes to the Aero, IMHO!
