... I'll try to post them on my site soon. They're the rubber bushes at the rear of the front lower control arms (wishbones), where it bolts to the underside of the car. They take a helluva lot of strain as they absorb the effects of acceleration (a lot in some 9000s) and braking. They're only a tenner each (in British "Quids"* or 15 US "Bucks").

I firmly believe that wear in these bushes causes many people to change their shocks unnecessarily or to upgrade to a firmer setup that they don't really want, just to restore the performance that should have been there all the time. I also believe that this is why people rave about Abbott and SuperFlex and other polyurethane bushes. Yes, they're very good but new OEM ones are pretty good too. On my Aero, I changed these for new OEM bushes before swapping the new bushes out for SuperFlex ones. The SuperFlex ones gave sharper handling than the new rubber ones, but the new ones were still a vast improvement over the originals.

I would advise anyone looking to improve the handling of their 9000 to consider fitting OEM bushes first, if they still have the originals. If you're still not happy, then the only answer is the compromises involved with polyurethane replacements. I'll bet a lot of people would never get as far as the poly bushes.


* I know I explained in a previous post that the plural of "Quid" is "Quid". However, it is acceptable in certain contexts to use the form of the plural "Quids". Recognising these contexts unfortunately requires extensive experience of living in the UK. If in doubt, use the plural form "Quid" unless you are prepared to risk UK residents laughing you out of town (or you are trying to impress non-UK residents with your vast knowledge of world currencies and colloquialisms).
