It's also called a Downpipe.

If you're looking for some more performance, now's the time to do it. Just buy a 3" Downpipe and a 3" high-flow cat. The rest of your exhaust can stay as is (which is 2.25"). You will also need an adapter to fit the 3" cat outlet to the stock 2.25" long pipe behind it.

The 3" DP is approx. $250 (the JT from engstrom.net).
The 3" cat is approx. $105 (the CarSound from promuffler.com).
The adapter is approx. $10 - $15 (any auto parts store).

If your car is a turbo, you will gain up to 23 more horsepower, the turbo will spool up faster, as well as run cooler since there will be less backpressure at the turbo-end of the exhaust.

I installed a complete 3" from turbo - back. Amazing!!!! The difference in performance is awesome. But it is known that most of the performance gain is really only achieved up to the cat. Any mods beyond that is basically minimal (I just decided to do the whole thing because I wanted to).
