You're referring to the "Check Oil Level" light, not the oil pressure light, correct? The warning came on often in my '90 turbo, but I found that if I was driving the car, parked it for a few minutes, then started it back up, the light would come on. I just assumed that at that point, the oil was too thin to register, and thus the sensor thinks the level is low. I'm not exactly sure how it works.
Also, it would come on if the car was parked on a hill in certain orientations. Neither of these were serious problems.
If there is plenty of oil in the engine AND it is replaced regularly (every 3,000 miles) AND you have adequate oil pressure, you shouldn't have a problem. You could try swapping the sensor, but that's something I know nothing about.
