My belief is that a dying blower motor will give some warning of its imminent demise before it croaks. My experience with sudden death on my 93CS was the blower fan speed control unit. In my case the electrical connector to the fan speed control had shorted and melted.
Under the hood there is a plastic cover at the rear. Remove this cover by removing the 8mm head screws holding it on. On the right (passenger) side, there is a black plastic box which is the evaporator housing. To the immediate left (driver's side) of that box, in the middle of that area, is another black housing, which is the blower motor housing. The fan speed resistor is attached to the front of the evaporator housing near where it connects with the blower motor. There is a square electrical connector with 4 wires attached to the fan speed controller.
Here is how you figure it out. First start the car. Next, whack the blower motor housing with a rubber mallet. If the motor runs at all, it's a bad motor. If the motor doesn't run, disconnect the electrical connector to the fan speed controller. You will see that there are 2 black wires in the connector (female end). Take a piece of wire of at least one foot in length and attach one end to the silver metal ring at the top of the engine. Now plug the other end of this wire into the holes for the black wires (one at a time) in the electrical connector for the fan speed controller. If the blower motor runs when one of the black wires is connected to the engine (ground), then the problem is the blower fan speed controller.
