bushings??? I noticed recently that when I switched from new rubber to poly end link bushings for my front suspension that it made the ride substantially stiffer "feeling" without actually providing much improvment in cornering (I have Aero front struts and springs and otherwise stock suspension on my '91 9000T).
I eventually settled on a poly bushing on top of the lower control arm and a rubber one on the bottom. I think that just a little extra flexibility goes a long way, especially when you're dealing one miniscule attachment point that somehow manages to counter the cornering forces of the entire car.
By using rubber, you could retain the overall effect of the thicker bars while reducing some of the stiffness that is bothering you.
Just a thought...
