I paid 'way less than $20k for my 98 CSE, and it certainly does have (ahem) "balls". It's also, as I expect Quasi can testify, very different from driving the '91 (also my previous ride).

The 98 has all the Aero bits beneath its demure skirt, so it goes very nicely and cruises far more smoothly. As I'm getting broken in to its habits, the family resemblance in the performance department is coming to light--it's just geared 'way higher. This means driving in second and third unless on the highway.

Positives include the enormously more rigid body, which translates into crisper handling and (for example) much slicker door operation. Tranny is remarkably more civilized in operation, ditto the brakes. Gas mileage is better by quite a good margin. Sound system is better, too, and because the vehicle is quieter I enjoy it more.

I sometimes miss the '91's eagerness to "take off like a lunatic" as you put it. I also prefer a metal sunroof to a moonroof... But...

So go hunting, dude! I figure most of the things I learned in 50+k with the '91 will hold me in good stead with the '98, so why go shopping for another long and expensive set of tuition payments?
