'94 Aero "timing problem", Robert hit it on the head

Hey Folks,
I've written several posted within the past two weeks regarding my '94 aero with the "busted timing chains" with 68k. I've decided to tackle the job myself and have sinced pulled the engine out and taken off the head and timing cover. I am waiting until Tuesday to order new chains, guides and getting another head from Erriksons. The problem turned to be that an inch off one of the guides broke off and jammed the chains. The chains were fine, but will be replace, since I am there. This problem happen without warning!!
A few post further down, Robert Kaplan mentioned the Townsend Bulletin about overheating. He was dead right. Because Saab made cheap plastic timing and balance shaft guides, they are prone to cracking once the car has overheated. My aero overheated suddenly about three months ago. I replaced the tempostat, and didn't have a problem until I was about 100 miles away and the car died in the middle of the street, in the middle of a blazing hot day.
I would highly recommend that everyone with 2.3 engines change they tempostats once a year, or immediately if they have no idea when it was last replaced. It is a very cheap form of insurance. It beats a $3,000 timing chain job!!!. My aero never overheated before that day when suddenly it did.
If I knew then, what I know now, I would have pulled the car over and towed it home, when it began to overheated.

Btw, I've has a '84 900 8valve overheat on me big time a few years ago. I fixed it and never has a guide failure once. Saab sure don't make them like they used to.
