"The Haynes manual has pictures of the engine and underside which are labeled. That may be the most useful part of the book for you right now."
Is it worth purchasing that manual just for those photos? If so, I'll buy it. If not, I'd rather just get copies of the photos.

"Did you ever get Auto Repairs for Dummies?"
Yup. It's on backorder, though. I anxiously await its arrival.

"The jack is yellow but you might be able to get the Barbie spray paint to fix that. I'll ask around."
Nevermind. I hate Barfie and everything about her, including her paint. Except Police Officer Barfie, that is. She's cool.

"As for the front control arm. Go lie on the ground with your head just behind the right front wheel."
For a minute there, I was sure your next line was going to be "Now have someone put the car in reverse and let it roll back."

"There is a round metal and rubber thing..."
Thank you. Now there is language I understand.

"The plate with the 4 bolt heads is where I jack from."
Umm...okay. Thanks for sharing that highly personal information.

"The front control arm is the thing the bushing is attached to. It has an important role in keeping the wheel attached to the car."
Uh oh. You mean I shouldn't have removed it?
Seriously, thanks very much. I appreciate it. I could see precisely what you are referring to, and it was very nice of you to take the time.
I'm about to remove the acquarium cover now to see if that little control arm is functioning properly, and to check on that air filter. Only trouble is, if it's dirty, I'll have to order one from Sobstory and replace it next week.
My friend's Mazda Protege has a lock which doesn't function. (She can't get the key to go into the lock from the outside.) She saw me working on my antenna motor/mast yesterday and today wants to know if I can fix it. I burst out laughing.
By the way, I forgot to mention that I only had three little parts left over after I was finished my job yesterday. Better than six parts left over.
Off I go...hope I can lift my new toolbox.
Thank you again.
