Thoughts on external a/t fluid cooler...

Since I've now gone and fully awakened a drowsy beast within my '98 auto by taking it to the Stage 3 level (ECU/exhaust/air delivery), I would like to know more about the possibility/availability of installing a separate auto tranny fluid cooler.
Where does it go?
Where do I get one?
Is it a Saab/aftermarket item?
Is it a direct fit into the car?
Does living in CT (Northeast USA) affect whether the fluid should be warm?
Do I totally disconnect the current cooler (into the radiator)?
Is it worth it (assuming heat is the main enemy of the internals)?
Looking to keep the tranny for as long as possible. It only has 5K miles on it (was just replaced due to manufacturing defect in old one). When Saab installed the new one, they were not able to get all the fossil fluid completely out to be replaced with synth, so they put it all back in since they were told by Saab Performance that it is not wise to mix synth and fossil within the tranny. So, basically, I cannot go the synth-route. But I will look to change the fluid every 12K miles, as well as watch out for WOT shifts and to shift it manually when I'm driving it hard.
TIA
Joe
