Bill, EVO July 2002 (I know I know...EVO a bit of a boy racer mag!).
Grip is good, but have had breakaway without any warning at all. (I know this is probably not unusual, but Pirelli's on my old 9k would let you know...I can't explain it!Sorry!). Tyre squeal is terrible as well...but not indicative of breakaway (2mph round one of those annoying miniroundabout type of squeal)
I have to admit I have had very little experience of tyres (other cars have tended to have 'budget tyres'), and to be honest I can't really notice any difference under 'normal' driving.
My brother who is very very car knowledgable, took mine for a spin on his testing road (you know the kind...every car upgrade/repair you have done for the last 15 years you take it for a test drive on this particular road), on this he really pushes the car. (never again do I sit in the passenger seat. This was the first time I realised just how quick the car is!). He finsihed by saying that they were not as good as he was led to believe. Again he noted squeal and also understeer.
I realise that this could be as much car set up, as tyre. The carly has exactly 100k on the clock, which I believe is around the time for new bushes etc.
I might have been a little off when I said they left a lot to be desired, but I have not seen the difference I expected I suppose.
I actually find the tyre wear to be ok (6k miles, and still lots left)remember this is a new car for me!and the first turbo! My mileage is about to go up, so replacment is going to be sooner rather than later....so saving now!
