My car seems to run basically normal with the nipple on the valve cover completely off, the only noticeable difference is a slightly lumpy, high idle. Is the check valve funcioning properly?
HOWEVER, a couple times the fitting on the PCV line that connects to the INTAKE MANIFOLD popped off - and this caused major problems (idle all over the place, car almost stalling etc.)
I would suggest getting a new rubber bushing for the PCV on the valve cover and ALSO - new bushings for ALL of the fittings that connect to the intake. If the PCV nipple is popping out, it means that the bushing is wearing out, and it will only get worse. The bushings are cheap and easy to replace and everything will be held in place nice and tight.
