they seem to have raised the position of the ball joint in the hub, as opposed to raising the entire hub assembly.
Conceptually, the idea is exactly the same - raise the pivot point and lower the rod. Their design may offer somewhat shorter throws, but not necessarily. It depends on how much they lower the rod.
I also can't tell if their design retains the reverse lockout. I would not want to lose the lockout function because, from my experience, it can make it difficult to find fifth gear quickly because third and fifth are very close together, whereas reverse is much further to the right.
Also, their shifter costs $175, whereas mine cost me precisely $0.
My friend drove my car last night, and he kept marvelling at the difference with the new shifter, saying how it feels more solid, its easier to tell when it's in gear, and the shifter isn't wobbling around under engine load.
I'll try to post pics and do a write up ASAP.
