Thanks Anders
My suspicion is that there is nothing wrong with the new 4300539 TCS ECU's (I've now tried two of them) or the rest of the CC. This hunch is based on the facts that:
- with the 4022653 the CC works fine
- both "new" (secondhand) 4300539's did the same: The CC worked at first when they were plugged in, with the TCS CTRL light on, but ceased to work after calibration. If something was getting fried inside the ECU wouldn't it have been fried straight away rather than during calibration??
I'm not at all convinced that anyone round here knows how to do the calibration properly. I saw a previous post from yourself where you mentioned having to do it many times before being happy with it (?)
I can't get at a Tech2 again until Wednesday and will check for any stored fault codes then using all three 4300539s. You probably guessed, but the car is manual.
Re boost fluctuations: The car runs as sweet as a nut - not even a hint of a misfire. Does this help at all? I'll check the plugs next week since they were changed by a local garage just before the trip. I'd heard that when the DI rail starts to fail, the car misfires and so hadn't suspected that. It sounds like you're saying I should suspect it though.
Many thanks again (and if you ever need help with a old Triumph, holler! I can practically dismantle one in my sleep now :-)
