I tried the Clarion route for the head unit in my '93 9000 CSE, for $80. It has a bad AM section and an intermittent output channel. Clarion sent it back a few weeks later with a full refund, claiming that it was irrepairable and that there was damage from a coke spilled into it. I used to work on these things professionally, and had opened it up before I sent it to them as well as after; there was no such damage or spill, and it was obvious that they simply didn't want to work on it because it wouldn't be an easy fix. I haven't tried United Radio, but I think for those repair rates you might be better off getting a good used unit; there's a guy in the classifieds, Wasyl Zadorozny, who's selling rebuilt/repaired head units for $90 + core, and apparently he carries CD/EQs as well. I might try him - has anybody else tried him yet?
