My '88 had the exact same behaviour. Springs fixed the D-jerk completely. Now there's some more weirdness in 4-3 shift, though... It has dropped to neutral on a few occasions when slowing down on 4th, then after 5-10 seconds engaged 3rd. I guess there might be dirt in the valve body, introduced into the transmission during the spring change, or something else causing sticking valve, since the spring change seems to have caused this.
