A colleague used to work at a (nameless) place which had a site in Peterborough and on the way back to Hemel, he and his colleagues at the time used to time how long it took to get from the exit of the roundabout to the bridge. He told me the record was 12 seconds in a Ford Scorpio, but I reckon that someone was exaggerating, as it's almost exactly half a mile (say 0.45 to be generous) which means they would have had to average about 135mph. Since the fastest Scorpios could only just about manage that speed, they'd have to have exited the roundabout at that speed and kept it up all the way. Hmm...

I haven't tried it since I modded the Aero, but with standard engine and suspension and Yokohama tyres, it managed 17 seconds and was going quite quickly by the time I reached the bridge (average speed works out about 95). This was around 3am. I wouldn't have attempted it if there had been anything else around.

Maybe some day I'll get the opportunity to try it again with more power and better suspension and tyres.
