There are several ways to do it. I have been using a pair of 12" adjustable wide-jaw pliers to clamp onto the tensioner with my right hand to compress it. With the tensioner complressed by the pliers, I fit up the idler pulley between the alternator and the power steering pump with my left hand with the belt correctly looped. Hand tighten the bolt for the idler pulley before releasing the tensioner. Then tighten the idler pulley bolt to spec.
