Get the belt in position on all pulleys but the stationary idler; leave a loop of belt there. Then do as LesH says, although it seems to me that I go down inside the engine compartment to fit the loop onto the pulley. It is a lot easier if you have the home made retaining tool. http://www.quasimotors.gar.net is the old address; new adddress is dot com - see below.
