Found my near-side wheel rocking about a bit when I did my discs, with some accompanying rubbing and vibration. BillJ suggested I retorque the hub nut, which I did – and it needed it, and now the wheel doesn't rock, but I still have a slight tremor that feels like (and might well be) an out-of-balance wheel at eighty or so.

Reason for post - any opinions out there as to whether tightening the nut should have solved my problems, or is 120k miles long enough for a front hub, so I should put new bearings in one or both anyway? Other side didn't need tightening (I checked).

By the way, I was able to hire a long torque wrench that could do the 280Nm required for the princely sum of £2, plus another quid for the 32mm socket and an adaptor. My wrench only does up to 210Nm. This was at my local auto accesories shop: and they also threatened to hire me DIY workshop facilities (yet to be inspected) for £15 per hour, VAT included. Does that sound good value? Could be very useful indeed.
