There is a wealth of information about changing the belt. It is not too hard, but will take you 2-3hrs your first time through. You need to jack up the right front of the car and remove the wheel. Use a jackstand to provide additional support. Then you can remove the front plastic wheel well liner. This exposes all of the pulleys and belt.
Quasi's site has excellent pictures and description of this job. You may need to replace the idler and tensioner pulleys as the bearings go bad and the surface tends to get rounded off. Also the tensioner itself may be weak and need replacing. Each of the pulleys cost about $30, and the tensioner is less than $100. If in doubt, replace. Cheaper in the long run.
Parts are avail through site sponsors, including Sobstory and eEuroparts at a reasonable price.
Can't say what damage may have been done. 1/3 mile should not be a problem, but I would not have expected your fluid to boil in that time either. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable that I will weigh in. Offhand, I would be watching the head gasket and all of the hoses.
