The torgue on that nut is pretty monstrous. You might actually need a 3/4" breaker bar - I have one, but I can't remember the last time I used it. Then you have to estimate the torque when you reassemble (unless you have a really hoss torque wrench). Admittedly, the axel would be a heck of a lot easier to work on if you removed it as a complete assembly (it sure would make reassembling the inner axel to that snap ring a lot easier). But you have to pay the price of dealing with the nut and all of that. Plus, on the passenger side, you're talking about the intermediate bearing support - and I draw the line this side of removing that.
