I have beaten many much higher powered cars. Two ways-
(1)- many folks with big machines don't really have the guts to put their foot all the way down.
(2) Don't give up. This is the 'I'm a crazier SOB than you are' school. Yes, the other guy smokes you to 50 mph, then lays off, satisfied. You keep your foot in it, 60, 70, 100 mph. At some point this game of chicken will end. Hopefully without a fireball.
In my younger days, I could beat many a Corvette or Camaro with my lowly VW Kharmann Ghia. They would win up to 30, 40, maybe 60. But most weren't crazy enough to keep on it.
Of course, most of this is socially unacceptable and downright stupid. But you did ask.
However, a more powerful car in the hands of a good driver, willing to go faster than you, will beat you. That's physics.
