Introduction and a few questions Posted by Andrew [Email] (#1013) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andrew) on Mon, 11 Nov 2002 15:43:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just wanted to introduce myself and ask a few questions. My name is Andrew I live in Boston and I have a '93 9000 CSE Turbo. I've had the car since '98 and haven't really had any major problems besides the TCS Bleeder valve. Basically I wanted to ask about what maintenance is expected at just over 100,000 mi. I'm not shy about doing work on the car. I also own an '88 BMW M3 that has occupied most of my weekends for the last year while I've been restoring it.
I just searched through this board and was glad to see that the two most recent problems I've had are common, the TCS and my Lamp Control solder joints. What is the consensus about replacing the timing chain? How about the tensioner? I need new shocks, are there any common upgrades like Bilstein? How about control arm, subframe and trailing arm bushings? While looking for upgraded motor mounts I found a sleeve that goes in the voids in the stock bushings, is that something that you guys use? Sway bars upgrades? Are there any common vaccum fitting that commonly leak?
Basically, any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Like I said earlier I haven't paid enough attention to this car over the past year. It's really my favorite highway car so I'd like to do whatever is necessary to keep it on the road for a while. I'll most likely be doing all of the work so any procedural advice is also tremendously appreciated. Thanks.
